It smells like Christmas when…
My first answer is that the smell of Christmas to me is Cinnamon Apple. But frankly, that’s the scent I like in my home all year long.
Smell is a funny one of our senses. I think it’s crazy how a smell can immediately take you back to a location. I can pull something out of a tub in my garage and it smells like one of my previous houses. That usually happens when I get out my Christmas decor. It smells like the older home I lived in, in Arkadelphia.
My mom’s house has a scent that just smells like home to me. It’s the lingering scent of the oven being on mixed in with a few essential oils. I wish I could find a way to capture the scent, I’d call it, “mamas house.”
There is a scent called Pineapple Orchid that I had in a wall plug-in when I was going through chemo. To this day I can smell anything floral, fruity and super sweet and I’m back climbing the stairs in my apartment that summer. And if it is around someone I know and trust, I ask them to put it away.
But Christmas is upon us and the smells we have going involve – Mulled Cider, Tis the Season (this one I burn all year), Leaves, Hot Apple Toddy, and Sweater Weather. And in the diffuser, we have thieves and orange. Keeping our spirits high and immunity strong!!
