In October, I’m ready for fall foods – pumpkin, soups, comfort foods, and casseroles. But the seasonal produce changes and I start thinking about squash and apples and less about grilling and more about slow cooking!
This month had lots of random travel for us, so it’s not your typical month, but you can see what we do none the less. If you missed my September meal plan, make sure to go back and see if you need to mix any of those recipes in your monthly plan.
Tools I use to plan my weekly menus:
- What’s in the freezer or fridge, pantry or veggie drawer that we need to eat up?
- What’s happening this week? Will there be food or do I need to fix something fast or easy?
- Cook at the beginning of the week, leftovers later in the week.
- One eat out night a week. Usually on a weekend, but maybe mama has an “I don’t want to cook” night.
- Chopped salad kit with weekly leftovers on Sunday night.
October Meal Plan | Week 1
- Sunday – September Meal Plan, but it was Crockpot Cheesy Tortellini, Ceasar salad, and frozen garlic bread
- Monday – Crockpot Deer Swiss Steak and grilled corn – recipe coming soon!
- Tuesday – tortellini leftovers
- Wednesday – church supper – Mexican Casserole and salad
- Thursday – impromptu dinner out with my in-laws after furniture shopping (grilled quail, if you must know!)
- Friday – play day at my in-laws. Pizza and roast. (I should have hung around for some leftovers!)
- Saturday – Ouachita Homecoming, meals at the tailgate and the Fajita Street Party after Tiger Tunes

- Sunday –
- Lunch – Roast, carrots, potatoes and Sister Shuberts
- Dinner – chicken nugget type things in the freezer and seasoned fries from burger night
- Monday – leftover Swiss Steak and grilled corn
- Tuesday – Crockpot Stroganoff (recipe coming soon)
- Wednesday – church supper – cabbage roll soup and grilled cheese
- Thursday – eat out – it was a long day with a toddler
- Friday – Copycat Olive Garden Chicken Gnocchi Soup and Garlic Knots
- Saturday –
- Lunch – Newks out with grandparents
- Dinner – frozen pizza
