Well, yesterday was my birthday. I will admit one of the things I thought about the night that we were sitting in the Arkadelphia Hospital waiting for the magic juice to do its “magic”, was…really I’m going to have to spend my 26th birthday in the hospital. Yeah, that would stink. No way I’m 25 and dealing with this. Well, I am now 26 and doing just fine dealing with this and I wasn’t in the hospital. No, a year ago this was not part of the plan, but My birthday was so special.

Lisa had us to her house for my office birthday lunch. Have I mentioned yet that, that woman is amazing? We had poppy seed chicken, hash brown casserole, green beans, Sister Shubert rolls, sweet tea and…..Banana Pudding. Yeah, the yummy, creamy, velvety kind that has Pet milk, Eagle Brand, sour cream and cool whip in it. You could mix all those things together and pour them on an old tire and it would taste good. I mean really. The funny thing is when she asked me what I wanted to eat, all I knew was hash brown casserole. So, I had to figure out what would go with it. It is all about priorities. It was so much fun. If you know any of us and how we act when given a stage, you will appreciate that we had some after lunch entertainment. Much like Vegas, what happens at the Berry’s, stays at the Berry’s so I cant reveal any more!

Ashton and I hung out last night and had Pig Pit and watched Becoming Jane (officially the longest movie I’ve seen in a while). We made a cake and Jessica and Cody came by. Oh little Madeline, make your mama happy and come see us (Cody is the youth minister at my church and his wife Jessica is about to pop. I don’t think Madeline will make it the 3 weeks she has left to cook!)

It was a super fun day and I got more birthday wishes than any one could hope for. Thanks to everyone. I’ve been doing really good, just get tired. Today was one of those days. By 5:30, I had pj’s on and was in bed. I guess it just comes with the territory.

I do have to tell you a funny that happened to me yesterday. Again, not something I thought I would be doing on my 26th birthday. Due to some of the medicines that are included in my chemo, anti nausea, FIBER is my new best friend, so yesterday I made an investment in Activia yogurt, Fiber One breakfast bars and Crystal Light “Digestive Health” water powders. Man, this is going to be a fun journey.

Dr. Kluck took the bandage off my port site yesterday and I got to see my incision. I will say that I was so impressed. The incision is about 2 inches long. The surgeon did not use any stitches or staples, just a serious steri strip job and the incision has healed so well. It looks good. Kinda Frankenstein right now while it heals, but I was so impressed and lucky. So, I’m just waiting for Chemo Day 2 on Thursday and hopefully another easy weekend. If you are in Arkadelphia, Relay for Life is this Friday night….find a way to get involved.
