So, 2022 is the year I turn 40 – eeekkkkk. I remember when that age seemed so old and I remembered that it seemed forever away.
I remember my 30th birthday like it was yesterday. I can remember the slow easy day. I remember my friend picking me up for dinner in the city, and I remember the dearest people in my life gathered around the table at a swanky restaurant and I felt loved and grown. I was single, surrounded by amazing friends, and had no idea how pivotal that year would be for me.
2012 is a year that marks big changes in my life. I measure years and sections of my life with a start and end date of 2012. And, I never would have guessed all that would transpire in the last
- 10 years
- 120 months
- 3650 days
- 87,600 hours
- 5,256,000 minutes
When you put it like that, I feel like I should have done more! (insert Ennegram 3 personality)
But, over the last decade, I:
- changed emails
- moved – 3 times
- changed jobs
- got married
- had a kid
- opened 2 businesses
- closed one of them
- taught classes
- built websites
- traveled to places I’ve never been
- written a lot of words
- read a few books
- made new friends
- lost some precious people in my life
It’s been a lot. I’m sure there are some bad habits I picked up and maybe a few others I gave away. I’ve added skills, shared knowledge, and had hard lessons. I’ve cried. I’ve belly laughed. I’ve thrown a few fits and some of those passion points made big things happen. Its been a wild ride.
I’m always inspired by people who set big lofty goals for milestone birthdays and over the last few months, I’ve just watched a lot of friends celebrate surviving to this point. And, that’s kinda where I find myself. So, so thankful for the last 40 years and hopeful for the 40 in front of me.
So, to honor my 40 spins around the globe, I thought I’d use this year to do 40 new things. They might be visiting a new restaurant, traveling to a new place, checking things off a bucket list, honing a new skill. I honestly do not know what all will make the list, but I’ve put a few dreams down, and hopefully, I’ll get to chase them.
For now, watch the series over the next year as I try to capture these experiences in one place!
