I’m gonna tell you right here. These three-ingredient sausage balls are going to blow your mind. “In the words of Mr. McKinney, “they don’t sound good and they don’t look good, but they are soooooo good.”
We may not agree on all those adjectives, but he is so right. They are soooooo good. And, using Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuit mix as the secret ingredient takes all the hassle out of finding the perfect baking mix or seasoning blend.
I love a sausage ball. Heck, I love most snacking foods. Snack dinner is my favorite kind of meal.

My Uncle Keith makes amazing sausage balls and frankly, I didn’t attempt these until a few years ago. They were something so easy to make the day before and everyone was way impressed the next morning when I served them hot out of the oven. I mean who shows up to a party at 8:00 am with a homemade breakfast treat. Yep, I was that girl. And, these were my weapon!
Hold your pants, they really are so easy. And, Three Ingredient Sausage Balls with Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Baking Mix are the perfect item for snacks, breakfast, brunch, party appetizer or just a big need for a protein punch.
Three Ingredient Sausage Balls
Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 box Red Lobster biscuit mix
- 2 cups cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Put sausage in the bottom of a stand mixer.
- Add biscuit mix, garlic herb seasoning inside box and cheese.
- Mix together until all ingredients are well blended.
- Scoop on to baking stone or cookie sheet. I think they need to be hand-rolled into about 1-inch size balls.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the top edges start to brown.
- Move to a cooling rack and store in an airtight container.
Notes
I feel like when I go to a church potluck, I want to know who brought what. I usually ask my closest friends what they brought so I know what is safe. These will officially be a new go-to through the holidays as I’m invited to potlucks or just a snacking party. So, if you want these at your party, you better put me on the invite list, or I suppose you could make them for yourself, but who wants to do that?!?!
These are also a quick thing I throw together when I take a dinner meal to someone who has had a baby or is sick or following a surgery. They are great to snack on or throw 5 in the microwave for 20 seconds and you have a good bite for breakfast. Because they are so easy, you can bake them at the same time you are putting together another meal.
Oh my gosh, I recently made these for a wedding shower and tried a new mix and it might be my favorite.
- Rosemary Garlic Biscuit Mix, Italian Herb Cheese blend and Mild Sausage.
They were so good and might be my new go-to option. But other mixtures you could do:
- Spicy Sausage, Garlic Herb Biscuit Mix, Pepperjack cheese
- Rosemary Garlic Biscuit Mix, Sage Sausage, Gouda or Asiago cheese
- Spicy Sausage, Biscuit Mix without the seasoning back and sub 1 Tablespoon taco seasoning, fiesta blend cheese
- Traditional – with velveeta cheddar shreds is still my all time favorite
It’s really so hard to go wrong with a blend of any variety of these ingredients!
