Meet my sweet friend Danielle. We met not long after I first moved to Northwest Arkansas. She and another friend of ours had started a community for cancer survivors and were actively gathering people and living in intentional community. We had the opportunity to work together in the non-profit space in NWA and her time at the Samaritan Community Center is something that makes me so proud to know her. She is an incredible grant writer and works hard at whatever she commits to. She is also real and raw and makes sure that she is telling the details of her story and making other’s lives better.

Meet my friend, Danielle May

OVERCOMER SERIES | Danielle May | a mom, a wife, a people lover, a joy giver, a fearless leaderWhat have you overcome? Fear

What was your turning point/pivot moment? After living 34 years riddled with fear (of everything- rejection, abandonment, failure, cancer, death, life), I found myself in a neuropsychologist’s office receiving three life-altering diagnoses: PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder. It took a bit to process but I felt an immediate sense of relief, followed by a hard season of shame, doubt, and disappointment. But God. A year after that neuropsych appointment, I found a gentle, Truth-speaking counselor who was willing to jump in the pit and guide me through the hard work of healing. It was messy but so incredibly worth it to finally be FREE. And it landed me here- a year of discovering who in the world I am, what my dreams are (something I hadn’t even considered since like 5th grade), and what I want to do with every single day that God gives me. I’m a work in progress but I refuse to let fear win this girl’s soul!
