Dude, where is the time going? You are already 2 months. I refuse to even say 9 weeks because that sounds so much longer.
You are the sweetest little thing and I’ll record it since we are all saying…and oh so pretty. Your face screams peace, you know except when you are hungry!
This month you have started smiling and as the month has gone on, you’ve started associating it as a reaction instead of just your pleasant demeanor. You respond and recognize voices you hear often. Of course that means me and I’m totally ok with that.
You and I have taken some road trips and adventures together. And, now that we are climbing out of flu season and past the 2 month mark, I’m looking forward to getting you out to meet some friends and family you haven’t been able to see yet.
We have a really good routine down for eating and sleeping during the day and you are giving us some rest with a longer stint at night. Don’t worry if its time to eat and you aren’t awake, we are not waking you up! Right now we are trying to let you learn self soothing. You do munch on your hands now to help with some of that even though I thought it was your sign that you were hungry. We have also figured out that you need your bottle warmer than we were serving it so you don’t spit up. Once we figured that out, you have been a much happier camper.
Some of the things I’m noticing and trying to do with you:
- you coo and talk a lot so I try to talk back. Everything I read says we can start having conversations and even if they feel one sided, you are learning that the pause in there is for you to respond.
- you are doing a great job and pulling that head up and getting more control of it, but we have got to figure something out for tummy time or getting you to stretch and work on your motor skills. (mommy’s secret fear is you getting flat head or spending too much time on your back while you discover)
- we have all the tools and toys out – your boppy stays on the couch, you puppy pad is right beside it and your activity gym is on the floor ready for you to play…we may move it to a bed so you don’t get so much extra attention from you know who!
- Bailey is still mesmerized with you and loves to give you kisses, she is pretty good about backing off when its been too much.
- you love your daddy. We are both so grateful that he is hands on and your time together on Saturday mornings while mom sleeps is super sweet…so I hear.
- you have been quite the snuggle bunny this last month. And, I’m so ok with it. I guess we will figure out later about getting you to sleep in your swing or chair on your own. I know you wont be this small forever so I’m trying to drink it all in!
- You are a really good traveler. You will ride in your car seat and as long as we are moving, you are out…but if we get to red lights or stop and go traffic, you wake up and are almost always hungry!
- you are pretty good about riding in the Ergo baby carrier, but are one little hot box just like your dad. We have even been using our Moby wrap at home when nothing else works.
- you love to lay on your back and look up at the ceiling and lights. We have even been giving you some time on your back in your bed. You look at the walls and all your stuffed animals. Hopefully you will be sleeping in there soon and have your own space. The monitor is already ready to capture all your moves!
We have a lot to do this next month and many adventures to take. Buckle up little man!
So sweet! It’s cool that you can track your adventures this way.
Love reading how you are growing and live the pictures your Mom takes. Can’t wait to hold you again.
We love you Grandbetty and cant wait to see your big smile this weekend!
