I find as I sit in my days during Christmas time, I want all the things to help me feel in the season – sights, smells, sounds, taste – it might be sensory overload, but it only comes one time a year and Mama likes to treat herself. If I’m wrapping a present, I usually have a Hallmark movie on, a fresh cup of coffee or cider, potentially Christmas music playing on the dot, and some scents wafting through the air. The smell in the air just helps set the tone and usually tackles a little wellness and immunity factors at the same time!

My mom usually makes a handmade personal care gift for stockings and as we study our last week of Preschool Activities for Advent and Christmas, this week we focus on the Gifts of the Magi. We have sensory activities planned and mixing up some bath salts for last-minute gifts.

I’m going to throw out a disclaimer here because any time I write about essential oils, I get some push back – I’m not an expert, our family has chosen to use essential oils to help with mood and health. You need to talk to your doctor and make the choice for your family with regards to brand, strength of scent, etc. We usually mix our oil blends for topical use with avocado or coconut oil. We use distilled water in our diffuser with drops to cover the whole room. With many of these blends, a little goes a long way!
