Let’’s be real. There are not enough gifts we can give the person who has spent the majority of their day since August or September with your kid – keeping them calm, dealing with tattling, helping with friendship issues, opening their fruit snacks, listening to their afternoon toots, keeping peace and somehow still teaching them how to read and count money.

Now, you are thinking about what you can get all of them. Besides a new car or more retirement, what about these ideas for fun end-of-the-year teacher gifts?

These end-of-year teacher gift ideas are a great way to thank the teachers, coaches, church workers, and tutors who invest in your child during the school year.

What to think about for nd-of-the-year teacher gifts

  • Think about all the convos your kid has shared about their teacher. What are their favorite things?
  • Do you still have that “teacher favorites” sheet they sent home at an open house?
  • What would you like to have?
  • Get your kid involved. Ask them about their teacher’s likes or what would be fun.
  • Make it something they will actually use
  • Gift cards that replace summer expenses are always appreciated.
  • Picking a theme sometimes helps you get creative.

ORANGE, you glad its summer

This is my personal favorite – a ready-for-summer bag of orange-themed things. I like to get an orange sand bucket, but a basket or recycle bag could also work. Include things like:

  • Beach towel
  • Drink cup
  • Flavor enhancers, or orange drink
  • Sunscreen
  • candy/gum
  • Sidewalk chalk
  • Bubbles
  • Air mist spray bottle
  • Lip gloss or chapstick
  • Goldfish or snack
  • Hair clips, scrunchies, or beach clips

Relax in the Sun

  • Similar ideas to above – just all shoved into a plastic drink dispenser
  • Flavor enhancers
  • Summer flavored candy
  • Sparkling water drink
  • Bubbles
  • sunglasses

My teacher gift this year:

  • For Wednight teachers – Orange you glad its summer – orange beach towel and Sonic gift card
  • For coaches – popsicle bath sponge and Sonic card
  • Extra people – Big plant – just a pot of plants or a big fern
  • Teachers – wet bags with essential oil blends, java sock, make-up brush cleaner, local candy or bath bomb, and a book I’ve loved this year (see the cover photo for a sneak peek!)

Other quick ideas:

  • Do they love to read, buy them a book or a favorite read – even a gift card to a local bookstore
  • Sonic, Starbucks, or a local drink spot will always do
  • Fill a water bottle with flavor enhancers
  • Get a great road trip bag and add a gas gift card
  • Get them something they will love, but wouldn’t buy for themselves.
  • When it’s a bigger thing, go in together with some other parents
  • When in doubt, have your kid draw them a card or fill out an “all about me” sheet and include a gift card

And don’t just think about your kid’s classroom teacher. There are other teachers and workers who influence them – what about church childcare, a music teacher or a paraprofessional, school secretary, babysitter, after-school program teacher or coach, swim lesson teacher or tutor you see weekly?

The time someone else spends with your kid is invaluable. Make sure they know you are grateful!
