These Easy, Buttery Apple Dumplings, made with a can of Mountain Dew, are the perfect fall treat. We had them recently to celebrate during our big boy party (read, potty training), but they were quickly requested for our Halloween festivities coming up later this month. If you are feeling fancy, you can serve these up as Individual Apple Pies and they take way less work than the real thing. With just five ingredients, my toddler was even able to help me pull together and it was a perfect activity as part of our Toddler Curriculum studying apples in September. A is for apples!
When I lived and worked in Northwest Arkansas, we had a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on a Saturday in October. One of the foods that were always donated for our walk participants was apples and oranges. We were always so thankful to local partners who would invest in the walk and help us reduce costs through their donations. We would give our extra fruit to a local women’s shelter, but I usually snuck a couple of apples to take home with me to make these amazingly easy apple dumplings.
We are talking 5 ingredients kind of easy and outside of apples, the only extra thing I usually had to snag was a can of Mountain Dew or 7up! Your fall needs some of these in it whether you are learning about apples, went to pick apples from a farmer’s market or local orchard, are looking for the perfect fall dessert, need a treat at the end of your Halloween party, or frankly want to impress your man with a simple treat at the end of a long weekend. (just me?!?!)

- Pour Mountain Dew™ over the dumplings.
- Bake for 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
Notes
- I only had red apples. I peeled and cored them and they were perfect, but green apples are the best!
- I had some of that Walmart brand peach lemonade in the fridge. It was flat but worked just the same. I think you could use apple or orange juice as well. I’ve also made it with 7up or Sprite before.
- It is hard to get all 16 of the dumplings into one 9×13. They do poof up and will touch each other if you try to put them all in one pan. So, I usually split them between 2 pans so they are prettier when you serve them. That’s important after all!
- I also served it with ice cream, but french vanilla cool whip would be yummy too. Or, they are super rich just by themselves.
- Of course, served with coffee or a cold glass of milk for breakfast is a nice treat too.
As I mentioned above, I’m serving as a VIPink Ambassador for the American Cancer Society. But, what does that mean?
- The American Cancer Society is very important to me. ACS is the organization that funded the research team that sent my cancer into remission 12 years ago. That is significant
- But, that does not stop my fight. My mother-in-law is actively adjusting treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago. She is the reason we keep fighting
- But, there is more. We have friends and family that are being diagnosed and undergoing treatment for all kinds of cancers.
- I know that cancer doesn’t sleep. It doesn’t take a holiday or slow down during a pandemic, and we will not either.
I’d ask you to join me in the fight against cancer and support my fundraising efforts for patient services, education, awareness, and ongoing research to develop new treatments, clinical trial options, and ultimately a cure!
