Country Apple Dumplings

These country apple dumplings are so easy and a can of mountain dew makes all the difference. They are the kind of treat that always impresses whether its teenagers or your grown up lady friends. We even use them as part of our A is for apple preschool unit in September.

Notes

  • I only had red apples. I peeled and cored them and they were perfect, but green apples are the best!
  • I had some of that Walmart brand peach lemonade in the fridge. It was flat but worked just the same. I think you could use apple or orange juice as well. I’ve also made it with 7up or Sprite before.
  • It is hard to get all 16 of the dumplings into one 9×13. They do poof up and will touch each other if you try to put them all in one pan. So, I usually split them between 2 pans so they are prettier when you serve them. That’s important after all!
  • I also served it with ice cream, but french vanilla cool whip would be yummy too. Or, they are super rich just by themselves.
  • Of course, served with coffee or a cold glass of milk for breakfast is a nice treat too.
