You guys, this gal falls high on my “boss babe” list. She is a girl banker and has climbed the ladder to a regional role and is killing it. She is recognized all over by peers and her industry. Her team respects her and her bosses see what she is bringing to their tables. She is ridiculously talented.
She also has committed her year to 3 things – fish – sew – taekwondo – and she lives out her brand every day. But, what I love even more is that she uses this as a filter for the way she spends her time. Her passion, her sabbath, her new retreat. She is teaching me so much as a woman who wants to be a great wife, a great mom, a creative person and still represent and be an amazing contributor to her community. It’s impressive and someday we are all doing to be watching her fashion show go down a runway. Just follow her on Instagram and see what I mean.
But, what I really love about this friend is her warrior spirit. She is a multi-time cancer survivor. She had surgeries and treatments and thought she was done and that tiny little percentage of reoccurrence, yep, she fell in that zone. Her attitude through it all and her lessons she learned about slowing down and not overextending was a time capsule to those of us who were nearby. I feel like I should have done more to help during that time but frankly, she made it look so easy and yet I know she was hurting and hurdling as she fought for her life.
She fights fiercely for the underdog. She volunteers her time to causes that really matter. She pays attention when people talk and she listens to what they are saying. She connects and remembers and makes her world a better place for those around her.
She shares some below, but let me encourage you to follow along on social and stay in touch with Eileen and peel back the layer of her amazing story. And, if you have some extra time, check out her interview on the Color and Happy podcast, episode 22.
- What have you OVERCOME? Two bouts of breast cancer in the last six years. (read a little about her last journey on her blog)
- What was your TURNING POINT/PIVOT MOMENT? Hmmm, not sure. It didn’t’ seem to derail me. Maybe a few detours along the way with diagnoses. Just needed to modify a bit and keep on going.
- 5-word life mantra- Just keep keeping on…sorry, only four.
- Quote you live by: They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. I also like, “Don’t let the bastards get you down.”
