I’ve tried really hard this year to talk about the Jesus Nativity Story with my preschooler. He is a little sponge right now and really loving the magic and splendor of the holiday season. So, this toddler and preschool-friendly Baby Jesus Breakfast party may quickly become a new family tradition.
This week we went to a Santa breakfast and Little Man has been singing Happy Birthday to Santa. I notice he is getting some of his theology mixed up so I thought we should jump ahead of it with a little breakfast party for Jesus.
This would be a great thing to do for Christmas morning or Christmas Eve morning. Or get together a group of mom friends with littles and share the menu. Whatever you do, get the kids involved and let them be part of preparing the meal. We let daddy sleep in and had breakfast and a hot cup of coffee ready for our family fun day.
Cooking jobs for toddlers at breakfast

- Give them a bowl of extra ingredients and let them stir or taste

- Have them take containers to the trash
- Let them identify colors and shapes
Baby Jesus Breakfast Menu
- Mini pigs in a blanket (baby Jesus in swaddling clothes) – cut crescent rolls in thirds and wrap around little smokies
- Spiced muffins (gifts the kings brought) – I just bought a spice quick bread mix in the Christmas baking section. It’s easy to dump in a bowl, add a few ingredients, and stir to mix.
- Egg casserole (filled with veggies that barn animals eat) – I have a couple of versions on my blog and even the Egg Muffins would work for Covid friendly individual servings. I like using egg substitutes here because the kids can pour and you don’t have to crack eggs.
- Cinnamon rolls and place a candle in the middle or make a shape with the
- Cinnamon Roll Cake and then you can have cake for breakfast
- Funfetti pancakes – because how else do you celebrate a birthday breakfast?!?! Mix and Match Mama shares these Red Velvet Pancakes and Gingerbread pancakes that can’t be a terrible idea!
- 3-ingredient sausage balls – in a basket these look like clumps of gold. And, bonus, they taste like it too. I personally love the maple sharp cheddar cheese combo.
- Other favorite things your kid’s love
For us, it was just a simple Saturday morning at home together. Little man helped me stir up the muffins and measure ingredients. Then he helped wrap up the smokies. More than once I heard “now get in yous blank baby Jesus. Oh here you go”.
It important to me to be the one leading out on my kid knowing the story of Jesus abs I know I have to own that process. So, this is one little thing I want to do each year to just remember.
