With all the extra time we’ve been spending at home and avoiding in person store shopping, my online shopping has rampped up over the past 3 months. So much so, that I put a snack basket out on my porch like it was the holiday season. I mean there have been days that things are delivered to our home via USPS, UPS and FedEx. Which, just makes for a lot of work for my dog barking at everyone asking them to get off our porch!
I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite buys over the last few months. I’ll admit this is an idea I’m stealing from some other friends, but their sharing has introduced me to some really good things!

What I’ve bought from Amazon Lately: BOOKS
- What about Her? Bible Study – I’ve been so excited to dig into this. A friend of ours has written this book and I’m so excited to explore it with a group of ladies as we discover more about the women in the lineage of Jesus and the deep lineage of GRACE!
- Preschool Bible – Little Man needed his own Bible to use during online church. There is not much that makes my heart happier than him pulling up his puppy chair to our coffee table and eating cinnamon toast with his Bible in his lap. I know I’ve got to demonstrate a better habit to use that with him, but having it easily accessible is a start.
- God of Covenant Bible Study – I’m about to dig into this for my personal study. Meeting with other women for a Bible study is something I’ve missed most during this quarantine time and in its place, I’ve just not been doing any personal study. And, its time to change that!
- Gene, Everywhere – the best book I”ve read in a while. Yes, the author is a friend, but the story is so gripping and heartwarming. It’s a perfect read for this fall with a good cup of coffee and a blanket. But, It was the first book I completed on my new Kindle. And, right now, the Kindle version is less than $5.
- Kindle Paperwhite – while we were on our Anniversary trip, Mr. McKinney learned that I love to read. He had no idea because I never have time to read. But, when we got home, my new Kindle Paperwhite showed up and I love it. I immediately read Gene Everywhere and I’m tackling a perfect southern love story right now. But, my queue is ready any time I have a quick minute to sit and read. I love that its so small and holds a charge so its the best thing for a mama.
- I got intentional about some kids books that introduce Diversity and these two have been our favorites – When God Made You and The Wonky Donkey – put both of these on any kids list
- Moleskine Journals – I love these books to take notes in. Whether its sermon notes, meeting notes, or just to capture my thoughts and planning for business, these are my FAVORITE journals.
- Incredible One Pot Cooking – my friend Megan launched her book and the pictures pulled me in, but the recipes are things real families eat using real ingredients from your local grocery store. Not complicated. And, one pot!
What I’ve bought from Amazon Lately: KID STUFF
- Bible Lessons for Preschoolers – with us not going to in-person church these days, I decided it was up to me to make sure we were prioritizing Bible lessons. Yes, my mom taught Preschoolers for 40 years but it doesn’t all just come to me the same way it does for her. And, my little guy loves to do activities and learn so I’m really excited to jump into these each week.
- Kid’s Washable Finger Paint – Little Man loves to paint and create and these have been the perfect craft supply. They are washable and I love the variety of colors and storage box they come in.
- Kid’s Sunglasses – I love these shades and I love the variety of colors they offer – so frat!
- Portable Potty – because we are “there” and we bought one for the grandparent’s house too because there are just some things you don’t want to have to transport all the time.
- Little Tykes Basketball – the only thing your toddler or preschooler needs. And, if you are as lucky as our family, you can still get courtside seats with a chair and FaceTime.
- Travel Size Dinosaur Dentist – this is such a fun game and ensues belly laughs every time we play
What I’ve bought from Amazon Lately: CLOTHES
- BEST BUY OF THE SUMMER – Dearlove Women’s Swim Top – I noticed when my husband’s family went to the beach that all the girls had on these same swim tops that were perfect for mamas. I immediately text them and said, “what are these tops you are all wearing.” I also bought the bottoms that Amazon suggested to go with them. But, it would be fine to wear swim bottoms or gym shorts that you already have. These were mega game changers for a mama on the move in the sun.
- Perfect Mom Swimsuit – in addition to the top above, I bought two of these swimsuits and I LOVE them. They keep things covered and in place while you chase a little kid around the water.
- Carters Shoes and Toddler Swimsuits – I’m never above buying kids clothes online and often check Amazon among other places when I”m looking for something very specific. And so many influencers pass along deals that make some of these things no brainers.
- Hershel’s Waist (fanny) Pack – because fancy doesn’t have to be expensive and I love having a fanny pack so I can stay hands-free when we are out and about. Fewer things to have to touch.
What I’ve bought from Amazon Lately: RANDOM STUFF
- Mosquito Repellent Lanterns – I love to be outside and spend patio time together, but I HATE MOSQUITOS. So much so, that it keeps me from sitting outside with my boys. But, I love this little lantern and it totally works. Its been the one thing I”ve found that keeps the bugs at bay so we can enjoy time together. Just follow all the directions. I also added a few of these terra cotta pot coils to our patio mix as well.
- Sugar-Free snow cone syrups – we got a new snow cone truck in town this summer, but the Sugar-Free syrups never arrived. We have loved driving over and getting an afternoon snack, but taking our own syrup is an easy way to cut out some summer calories. Maybe next summer I’ll be brave enough to shave our own ice.
- All the supplies for my Spring Tie Dye Extravaganza – Tie Dye Kit, toddler t-shirts, and Bar Mop Towels, Tea Towels (although everyone thought they were scarves)
- Because I have a stinky dog and my husband spoils her
- Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cups – because that flavor isn’t just available in October. Gotta find joy when and where you can!
Things we buy all the time from Amazon :
(most them are on Subscribe and Save so I don’t have to think about it!)
- My husbands fancy, or not so fancy, salon hair gel – again small town and it come to you
- Rachel Ray Nutrish dog food – this mega bag shows up on my porch each month. And, its so nice because I don’t have to lug it in from the car and a grocery pick up. Nope, Mr. McKinney sees it and brings it in the front door. If you don’t have dog food delivered to your porch without thinking about it, you are missing out!
- Munchkin Diaper Pail Air Fresher Puck Refills – Amazon is the only place we can find these. I bought the Munchkin Pail when Little Man was born because I heard so many mixed things about the Diaper Genie. And, we have been so happy with the purchase, its just wierd bc we bought the pail at Target, but we can’t get the replacement pieces there but they are on Subscribe and Save and show up just before the stinky takes over each time! Heres’ a link to the bag ring refills too.
- Microfine Super Soft Toothbrushes – essential for sensitive gums, especially if you don’t want to have mouth surgery again.
- air filters – we just set this up on subscribe and save and know when it shows up, its time to replace. Who even remembers to do that?

Personally, I’m not above buying just about anything on Amazon. Everything is there. And, it can come to my front door. What about you? What’s a recent buy you are loving?!?!
Oh and if you think I’m totally crazy, we had an item I forgot delivered to a future hotel on our recent trip through Jackson Hole, Wyoming. When you live in a small town or are always on the move, Amazon is there for you! Thanks by the way.
