Today is all about the “sounds of the season”.  What does your dream soundtrack for Christmas sound like?

————————————————————————

For me, its not Christmas until I’ve heard O Holy Night sung live! And, preferably, its one of these 3 gentlemen:
1.  David Phelps
2.  Jacob Watson
3.  Travis Cottrell

Although, I’ll admit that growing up hearing my dad sing it helped me fall in love with the song.  I love a good tenor!!!

Ironic that this topic falls on December 1, the second night of Festival of Christmas at my beloved Ouachita.  I would put the production and talent of those students up against any group anywhere.  It is always the perfect kickoff to the holiday season.  I’m sad that I had to miss it this year.

To help fill my need for “the holiday season”, this year I’m filling my CD player (yes, I still carry CD’s in their plastic cases in my car – I’m old school about some things!!!) with my Top 5:
1.  Francesca BattistelliChristmas – my friend Kate got this for me as an early Christmas present and I must admit, its my new favorite.  Especially – Middle of a Miracle and I must admit Heaven Everywhere gets me every time.
2.  David Phelps – any of them are good – I got to see him live in Texarkana a couple years ago and it was a night I’m so glad I experienced.  Long before he became Mr. Gaither Vocal band (which you know is why I love him even more!) he used to sing with our church choir in our Christmas pageant.  Such great memories!!!  O Come, O Come Emmanuel and Mary Did You Know
3.  I also love me some Travis Cottrell – Ring the Bells
4.  Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, Harry Connick Jr. and Point of Grace go without saying!
5.  Michael Buble – Christmas – didn’t have the same tone as his last one once he got married, but a girl can dream cant she! – I’ll Be Home for Christmas
