Grandmother's Goulash
Goulash is made of tomato sauce, combined with ground beef, noodles, and corn is a family dinner crowd pleaser every time. My grandmother always made this a family favorite for weeknight dinners or family weekend gatherings.
- 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
- 1 lb ground chuck
- 1 green bell pepper diced
- 1 small white or yellow onion diced
- 1 can whole kernel corn drained
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 14 oz. bottle ketchup
- salt and pepper to taste
Boil water and cook elbow macaroni for 8 minutes (just under al dente).
Drain and rinse at the end of 8 minutes.
Brown hamburger meat with bell pepper and onion.
Drain on plate with paper towel.
Wipe out skillet and returned browned meat mixture to skillet.
Add drained corn, spices and cooked pasta to meat mixture.
Gently stir together.
Add ketchup.
Put 1/2 cup water in ketchup bottle and shake around to get all the sauce off the sides.
Pour over meat mixture.
Cook on medium heat until thickened, usually 2-3 minutes.
